Authentic Brazilian rhythms
We are a group of drummers and percussionists held together by Brazilian music. We play traditional, authentic rhythms where the drums come first. We draw our inspiration mainly from Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia, the two cities where Brazilian percussion has its deepest roots.
For more than two decades we have been learning from leading Brazilian musicians, and every trip to Brazil brings back something we then play at home.
TOCUMBÉ is the natural result of a long musical journey. Every member brings experience from different bands and musical projects, yet we are united by one shared vision: to perform Brazilian music with respect for its traditions while delivering the energy that captivates every audience.
Our repertoire includes the powerful Samba Reggae of Salvador da Bahia, Samba Afro, Ijexá, Maracatu and carnival Samba Enredo from Rio de Janeiro. We play authentic Brazilian instruments.
